Diabeties can have a devastating impact on your feet!
Your feet rely on having adequate blood supply to remain healthy and nerve endings to alert us of even the smallest trauma. Unfortunately diabeties can negatively impact on both the circulation and sensation within your feet which may result in complications such as diabetic ulcers and even lead to amputation.
How can I care for my feet?
A six monthly check by your podiatrist will help to detect any changes early – before they become a problem. A comprehensive assessment is undertaken to assess the health of the diabetic foot. Patient history, education, footwear, neurovascular status (including Doppler Ultrasound) and general podiatric treatment comprise a full assessment to determine “risk” levels. All results are communicated to relevant medical support staff such as GP’s and Medical Specialists.
